Torah Day School of Atlanta’s long search for a head of school came to an end at the start of March with the announcement that Rabbi Meir Cohen has accepted the position, effective next school year.

Rabbi Cohen is the assistant head of school of the Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School, a position he has held for seven years. He previously was the principal of Torah Academy of Jacksonville, Fla., for five years.

He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and is pursuing a doctorate in the same area from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education.

Rabbi Cohen will make decisions about the leadership structure and budget and staffing issues for the 2018-19 school year.

“We are very excited that Rabbi Cohen has accepted our offer to serve as the leader of our wonderful school, and we are confident that, with Hashem’s help, he will bring TDSA to the next level of excellence,” Rabbi Menachem Deutsch said in announcing the hire.
