Bar Mitzvah: Ohr Michael Shantzer
As part of his bar mitzvah journey, Ohr dedicated himself to a mitzvah project supporting children in Israel through sports.
Ohr Michael Shantzer is the beloved son of Liron and Moshe Shantzer, brother of Tahel, and grandson of Sara and Rami Sharon and Miriam and Haim Shantzer.
Ohr will be entering seventh grade at The Davis Academy this fall. He is an energetic, adventurous, and kind-hearted young man who loves spending time with his family and friends. He plays competitive hockey for the MadHatters and soccer both at school and in the community. When he is not on the ice or the soccer field, he can often be found surfing, skiing, or playing guitar.
One of the things Ohr enjoys most is being with his friends. He values teamwork, loyalty, and friendship; qualities that shine through both on and off the field. This summer, he is excited to represent Atlanta as a member of the U15 Soccer Maccabi team in Toronto.
As part of his bar mitzvah journey, Ohr dedicated himself to a mitzvah project supporting children in Israel through sports. Through this project, he helped provide sports equipment and opportunities for children to participate in athletics, build confidence, and experience the benefits of teamwork. The experience strengthened his connection to Israel and deepened his appreciation for the Jewish values of compassion, generosity, and community.
Ohr recently celebrated with family and friends in Atlanta and will mark his bar mitzvah in Jerusalem, Israel, on 1 Av 5786 (July 15, 2026). Celebrating this milestone in Jerusalem with his family in Israel makes the occasion especially meaningful and reflects Ohr’s strong connection to his family, community, and Jewish heritage.
Mazel Tov, Ohr!
