Bet Haverim’s Geurin Wins Fellowship
The Toco Hills congregation's music director is one of 17 Rising Song fellows across the nation.
Congregation Bet Haverim Music Director Gayanne Geurin was named one of 17 recipients of the first Rising Song Fellowship from Mechon Hadar’s Rising Song Institute.
The award was announced in early December; the fellowship began in February.
Under the direction of Creative Director Joey Weisenberg, Geurin and the other accomplished musicians, composers and prayer leaders are working together for 15 months to expand their skills and develop new modalities of musical-spiritual expression for the Jewish world.
The Rising Song Fellowship aims to raise the musical-spiritual creativity of Jewish culture by developing music that connects to the energy of the Jewish community and is artistically inspiring.
Each fellow is undertaking an individualized program that includes musical technique development, a focused area of Jewish studies and the composition of advanced professional projects.
The fellowship includes online meetings and four retreats in Philadelphia.
