Letter to the Editor: Walter Jospin
The AJT welcomes your letters. If you would like your letter to be published, please write 200 words or less, include your name, phone number and email, and send it to sasha@atljewishtimes.com.
To the Editor,
Michael Morris, the owner and publisher of the AJT, recently wrote a letter to the editor, criticizing the Grammy Award show for its “focus on ICE Out.” Implicit in this criticism is Mr. Morris’s support of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), its policies, and recent actions.
Perhaps Mr. Morris should clarify his position. Does he support any or all of the following acts of ICE:
* The unjustified killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti of Minneapolis and Ruben Ray Martinez of South Padre Island;
* Masked agents routinely violating the First and Fourth Amendment rights of U.S. citizens and others;
* Deporting non-citizens for alleged minor crimes, without due process, to countries with which the immigrant has no relationship ;
* Detaining indefinitely non-citizens, without due process, in mass detention facilities in inhumane conditions.
Thank you.
Walter Jospin, Atlanta
