Bob Pugrant, 91 years old, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from complications associated with Myasthenia gravis. A 43-year resident of Dunwoody, he most recently resided between Canton and Blairsville, Ga.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat Pugrant; daughters, Beth Brooks-Silvey and Deborah Gerwit; son, Jeffrey Pugrant; and grandchildren, Ariel and Johnathan Read, Grant and Claire Gerwit, Abby Gerwit, and Ken, Charlie, and Liza Harrison.
Bob was constantly described as the “nicest sweetheart of a man,” and he brought a smile to everyone who crossed his path.
A devoted father, husband, and leader, Bob was a respected Group Life Insurance Consultant for 40 years with John Hancock Insurance Company. He was active in the Boy Scouts Woodbadge program, an avid wood carver, a devoted member of the Concourse — where he often spent his mornings with Archbishop Wilton Gregory — and an active member of the Soleil Veterans Club. Additionally, he was involved with the Breman Jewish Heritage Museum in Atlanta and the Israeli Boy & Girl Scout Program for more than 38 years.
Bob’s devotion to his family showed in every part of life. He taught them to boat and fish, instilled a love of the Atlanta Braves, showed them not to be afraid to try anything and to make the best of every day. His love of cooking and good food kept him busy, as he and Pat spent countless evenings each week mastering recipes from the Food Network together.
Services were held graveside at Arlington Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Organization or to charity of your choice.
