Obituary: Esther Regina Zipperman

Esther Regina Zipperman, 93, of Atlanta, Ga., died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Aug. 30, 2026. She was born in and remained a resident of Atlanta. Her parents, Nace and Regina Amato, both of blessed memories, both immigrated from the Island of Rhodes in the southeastern Aegean Sea. She was raised by her parents with her sister, Lucy Gottlieb, of blessed memory, in a close-knit Sephardic Jewish community full of song, dance, community, and love.

She met the love of her life, Arnold Zipperman, at 15 years of age who she eventually married and, with him, built a family containing four rambunctious boys. Esther was loved and adored by all who met her and was the heart and soul of her family.  Esther was smart, witty, intuitive, and young at heart. She saw the humor in day-to-day life events and challenges and loved to laugh with her family and best friends, Rossie Tarica, of blessed memory, and cousin, Renee Arogeti.

Esther showed her commitment and support for the family through love and food. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she adored and loved to spoil. She was committed to and loved her best animal friend, “Bootsie,” her dog of 14 years.

Esther enjoyed working in many different positions in her business career well into her 80’s. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Or VeShalom and served in various leadership positions for many years for its Sisterhood.

Esther is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Arnold Zipperman; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Eileen Zipperman of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Terry Zipperman of Ellijay, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Lisa Zipperman of Brookhaven, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Marie Zipperman of Burbank, Calif.; grandchildren: Naomi Zipperman and Tre’ Wright of Burbank; Taj Zipperman of Woodstock, Ga..; Nace Zipperman of Atlanta; Leah Zipperman and Kim DiStefano of San Diego; Therese and Jered Dayoub of Los Angeles; Ashley and Andre Esguerra of Los Angeles; great-grandchildren: Kane Zipperman and McKenzie Botz of Kennesaw; Aurora Wright Zipperman of Burbank; and Julian Dayoub of Los Angeles; and great-great-grandson, Palmer Ray Zipperman of Kennesaw.
