Obituary: Evelyn Witkind Simmons

Evelyn Witkind Simmons passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born on July 14, 1931, in Union City, N.J., eventually moving to Atlanta when she was 19 to be with her large family. She married Robert Simmons in 1952 and had three children. She loved fashion and working at Lord and Taylor. She was always happy and would gladly chat with anyone. She had two grandchildren who she adored and would brag about them to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Herman Witkind, and her beloved brother, Elliott Witkind. She is survived by daughters, Deborah (Tom Lehman) and Karenlee, and son, David, as well as Claire, Ira, Steven and Michael Silberman, and grandchildren, Jenny and Benjamin Simmons Lehman.
