Harold Arnovitz was born in Atlanta in 1932.
Harold Arnovitz was born in Atlanta in 1932. He is predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Sarah Arnovitz, and his brothers, Morris and Sam. He attended Grady High School and later, Emory University, where he served as president of TEP fraternity.
In 1954, Harold married Dolores Barkin, another Atlantan. He is survived by their children — David (Andi) Arnovitz, Karen (Jimmy) Grinzaid, and Lisa (Sam) Marks — along with 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Harold believed strongly in Jewish education. He was instrumental in the growth of Greenfield Hebrew Academy, now Atlanta Jewish Academy, and remained active in many Jewish organizations throughout his life.
Professionally, he built a successful career in residential and commercial real estate. Harold was an avid hiker who completed the entire Appalachian Trail; he biked across Georgia in BRAG rides, ran regularly, cross-country skied, and enjoyed photography.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Congregation Ohr HaTorah, Chabad Intown, Atlanta Jewish Academy and Jscreen.
