Janet Sugarman

Janet Sugarman passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Oct. 2, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in The Bronx, N.Y., Janet built a remarkable legacy of care, community service, and leadership. She was a founding partner of the Needlenook in Atlanta. She subsequently dedicated her professional life to the compassionate care of seniors, serving as the executive director of the Louis Kahn Group Home in Atlanta and later as the founding executive director of the Cohen Home Assisted Living Facility in Alpharetta.

A lifelong devotee of B’nai B’rith Women and the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO), Janet’s extensive service included terms as the Southeastern Regional Chairman of B’nai B’rith Women, president of the Greater Atlanta Council of B’nai B’rith Women, and B’nai B’rith Women Hillel chairwoman. She also served as secretary of the Atlanta Council BBYO adult board. For her unwavering commitment, she was honored with the prestigious Gold Key Award, an international volunteer award for BBYO.

A talented artist, Janet spent much of her free time creating beautiful pieces, but her greatest passion in life was her family. Her absolute favorite interest and activity was simply being with her grandchildren, whom she adored above all else.

Janet is survived by her sister, Sandy Soll, and her husband, Warren, of Philadelphia; her daughter, Korrie Silpe, and her husband, Josh; her son, Kevin Sugarman, and his wife, Leigh Ann; and her four beloved grandchildren: Drew Silpe, Chase Pena, Aiden Sugarman, and Evan Sugarman.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Arthritis Foundation. Arrangements by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.
