Obituary: Lorraine Siegel

Lorraine Siegel, age 101, passed away on May 20, 2026, following a short illness.

Lorraine was born in New York, N.Y., on Oct. 30, 1924, to Ann and Sam Tannenbaum. She was educated in the New York public schools and attended City College of New York.

In 1942, she married Jack J. Eden. Over the next years, they lived in Hollywood, Fla., Atlanta, and Chicago. She and Jack had one son, Mark. After Jack’s death, she and Mark moved back to Atlanta, where she met Louis Siegel. They married in 1970 and had a beautiful blending of families.

Lorraine had a successful career in office administration. After her retirement, she became a trained mediator and worked in the Fulton County Court System. She and Louis socialized and traveled extensively both with her friends and his friends. They were a most sought-after couple and a perfect combination of personalities.

After Louis’ death in 2010, Lorraine moved to The Piedmont, where she quickly immersed herself into the building, the residents and all of the activities. Everyone in the building knew and admired her. She was a top bridge player and Life Master, playing duplicate bridge twice a week and achieving top scores, even at age 101. Lorraine organized Canasta and Mah Jongg games and led several book clubs for years. She was a friend, a confidant and a mentor to people of all ages. Lorraine was well-read, intelligent and conversant on most any topic and was always open to discussion and opposing views. She was known for her positive attitude, and unlike so many people, she thought everything was wonderful and never complained about anything — not even the food!

Her greatest joy was being with her extended family and sharing time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being such an important part of their lives. She always said it was her good fortune to be part of such a large and loving family.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Sam Tannenbaum; her husbands, Jack J. Eden and Louis Siegel; her sister, Beatrice Fox; and her son, Garry Siegel.  She is survived by her children, Mark (Jane) Eden, Judy (Alan) Schulman, Richard Siegel, daughter-in-law, Beth Siegel, and former daughter-in-law, Margie Eden; grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Eden, Brent (Sara) Eden, Stefani (Craig) Faer, Daryl (Jonathan) Sommers, Eric (Kyle) Siegel and Amanda (Mark) Walker; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 10;30 a.m., Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Shiva was held at the home of Jennifer and Jason Eden.
