Norma Joy Shetzen Stern Postnieks

Norma Joy Shetzen Stern Postnieks died on June 24, 2026, at age 88. The oldest of three sisters, Norma was born on Jan. 16, 1938, to Alice and Edward Shetzen, of blessed memory. She grew up on Lanier Boulevard, in the Virginia-Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta, and graduated from Grady High School (1955) and Emory University (1959).

Norma was predeceased by her beloved sister, Leslie Benator, and brother-in-law, John Benator. She is survived by her devoted husband, Andrew Postnieks; her children, Richard Stern (Mindy), Dana Meline (David), and stepson, Erik Postnieks; her sister, Mimi Maslia (Dan); and her grandchildren, Alex Meline, Jared Meline, Rebecca Brickman (Joseph), Ezra Stern, and Lukas, Mika, and Anders Postnieks; her niece, Elizabeth Benator; and her nephew, Andrew Benator (Cat). We are grateful beyond words to Norma’s caregivers, who became part of the family through their expert loving care over the last three years of her life.

Norma Joy Shetzen Stern Postnieks embraced every part of her name and every chapter of her life. True to her middle name, Joy, she was endlessly curious, with a lifelong zest for travel, mystery novels, and flower gardening. As a Shetzen, she and her sisters, Leslie and Mimi, were inseparable best friends. Bound by this unbreakable bond, they led the family real estate business with ingenuity and determination. Norma and her husband, Eddie Stern (z”l), raised Richard and Dana together with a wonderful, nurturing web of fellow Atlanta families. As a Postnieks, Norma and her beloved husband of four decades, Andrew, delighted in traveling the world together and generously doted on their seven grandchildren, celebrating every milestone with warmhearted pride.

She was laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery on June 25, next to her beloved grandma, Becky Lewenstein. May Norma’s memory be a blessing.

Donations celebrating her life can be made to the Temple Sinai Cantor Sid Gottler Music Fund or The Davis Academy.
