At Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center, Patients Are People First.

Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center has been Atlanta’s premier center for delivering premium, comprehensive care for back pain and other neurosurgery related conditions for over 40 years.

Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center has been Atlanta’s premier center for delivering premium, comprehensive care for back pain and other neurosurgery related conditions for over 40 years. Polaris’s commitment to quality has helped to maintain its excellent clinical reputation. State-of-the-art infrastructure provides comprehensive solutions to back pain, including both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. The addition of five physicians committed to quality care and service to the community, has resulted in the Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center expanding their services to offer the full spectrum of spinal care as well as treatment for many cranial conditions.

Doctors Robert Ayer, MD, Bethwel Raore MD, Mairaj Sami MD, Dave Seecharan MD, all locally practicing neurosurgeons, joined the practice in August. “They perform a comprehensive range of spine surgical techniques including anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches using both traditional and minimally invasive spine surgery methods. With the addition of our new neurosurgeons, we will be expanding back into cranial procedures and treating more complex spine issues and deformities, as well as treating scoliosis”, said Max Steuer, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon. Along with the addition of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, Dr. Gregory Franklin, the collaboration of their elite group of physicians ensures best-in-class spine and neurosurgical care, and a comprehensive approach to treating back pain. “While their professional abilities are impressive, it is their values and who they are as people that are equally important.”, Steuer said.

Compassion-Centered Care

At Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center, patients are people first.

“When a patient walks through our doors, they’re not a diagnosis; they are someone’s husband or wife, someone’s son or daughter,” explains Bethwel Raore, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon. “They are an individual with people who care about them, so that’s how our physicians and support staff see them: as family first.”

Known for delivering neurosurgical services to patients of all ages impacted by diseases and injuries of the brain and spine, the practice has provided excellence in neurosurgery and spine care.

“Any patient suffering from back pain or neurological problems is going to be welcomed here by a warm group of physicians,” says Robert Ayer, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon. “From the moment you walk in the door, your successful treatment is our priority.”

State-of-the-art Surgical and Minimally Invasive Techniques

While many surgeons are limited by scope of training, the team at Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center is committed to ongoing education in state-of-the-art surgery. Proficient in traditional and minimally invasive methods, the surgeons perform a comprehensive range of surgical techniques including anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches. As the physicians most proficient in minimally invasive anterior lumbar surgery and the use of advanced surgical navigation in the Atlanta area, they have frequently been approached to train other surgeons in these techniques.

“With a commitment to ongoing education, we utilize the most up-to-date surgical techniques and technical advances in greater Atlanta,” explains Dave Seecharan, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon.

“We actively seek out, learn, and bring to our patients the highest quality neuro-surgical care available.”

To that end, all the surgeons specialize in minimally invasive surgical techniques— meaning less time in surgery, fewer inpatient days, less risk of blood loss and infection, and faster recovery times. They practice conservative care, recommending surgery only when necessary.

Accessible and Affable

“The conditions we treat are painful, chronic, and often life-altering,” Dr. Ayer says. “We know life with neuro-spinal issues is difficult, so we strive to be the most easily accessible and affable practice around to make treatment as pleasant as possible.”

In a medical specialty notorious for being difficult to access—with long wait lists and pre-appointment requirements— patients or caregivers can book an appointment at Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery Center simply by calling their office or scheduling online at https://www.polarisspine.com.
