Greater Atlanta Hadassah Set to Celebrate
Greater Atlanta Hadassah kicks off its yearlong celebration of the centennial of Hadassah in Atlanta with the opening of an exhibit on the centennial at the Breman Jewish Heritage Museum at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
National Hadassah President Marcie Natan will join the festivities, which will include activities for the whole family.
The exhibit showcases Hadassah Atlanta’s community involvement, which continues to empower women through education, advocacy, personal fulfillment and camaraderie. Founded Nov. 2, 1916, with 18 charter members, Hadassah Atlanta now has more than 3,600 members and associates.
Artifacts on display include the chapter minutes book from 1916 and hundreds of photographs. Guests can share their own Hadassah memories in a video recording booth, color an original Hadassah coloring book and enjoy all of the Breman exhibits.
The exhibit will be on display until March 6.
“Hadassah is truly a one-of-a-kind organization that allows women of all backgrounds to contribute through their individual skills and abilities while providing leadership development which can be used in their personal and business lives,” Greater Atlanta Hadassah President Paula Zucker said. “This has spoken to the women of Atlanta for a century and continues to inspire our members.”
Admission tickets are $8 with a reservation or $10 at the door. A $50 patron contribution includes admission. Purchase tickets at www.hadassah.org/events/breman or call 678-443-2961.
Breman members may attend free but are asked to call to RSVP.
“We’re thrilled that this exhibit will be the kickoff leading up to our centennial in 2016,” said Phyllis Cohen, who is chairing Hadassah’s centennial observance. “We welcome every member of our community to come and celebrate with us on Nov. 1 and throughout the year at upcoming events, culminating with a gala anniversary evening next year on Oct. 30.”
After the opening program for the Hadassah exhibit, Joan Adler will discuss her book, “For Sake of the Children: The Letters Between Otto Frank and Nathan Straus Jr.,” and share the connection between the Straus family and Hadassah.
