Atlanta Jewish Academy honored the senior basketball prospect who selected to play for Sarah Lawrence College.

Atlanta Jewish Academy proudly honored senior basketball standout Zac Agichtein in a special signing ceremony as he announced his decision to attend Sarah Lawrence College, where he will continue his academic and athletic journey. Agichtein will join the Gryphons men’s basketball program after spending a gap year in Israel training with Maccabi Israel Sports XL, a prestigious program that prepares elite Jewish athletes for the next level of competition. In addition, he will play for Team USA Maccabiah Games in Israel 18U 3×3 Squad.
In front of his family, teammates, coaches, and the AJA community, Agichtein signed his letter of intent, marking the culmination of years of dedication, hard work, and perseverance. The ceremony was a celebration of his achievements both on and off the court, as well as his commitment to continuing his growth as a student-athlete.
Agichtein has been a leader for AJA’s basketball program, known for his fierce competitiveness, high basketball IQ, and unselfish play. He’s earned the respect of his coaches and teammates for his discipline, consistency, and drive to improve. Off the court, Agichtein has also maintained a strong academic record and has been a role model within the school community.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my time at AJA and all the people who supported me,” he said. “Spending a year training in Israel will be an amazing opportunity, and I’m excited to represent Sarah Lawrence at the college level.”
Head Coach Lamont Watkins shared his admiration: “Zac is the kind of player every coach wants — he works hard, he listens, and he leads by example. Watching him grow over the past few years has been one of the highlights of my time here.”
As Agichtein prepares for his next chapter, the AJA community celebrates his accomplishments and looks forward to cheering him on in Israel and beyond.
