On Friday morning, the Israel Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast began delivering just over 600 masks bearing the colorful logo of the State of Israel along with high holiday greetings to senior living facilities in Atlanta and five others in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri.

Consul General Sultan-Dadon personally delivered masks and holiday messages to Jewish seniors in Atlanta at Jewish Family & Career Services and The William Breman Jewish Home. The rest were shipped to the areas throughout the Southeast.

In her letter to the seniors, Sultan-Dadon wrote, “The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had a significant effect, here in the United States as well as in Israel, on so many and in so many ways. During these challenging times we have seen a particular impact on the older and more vulnerable population in our communities, who have faced increased health risk and prolonged separation from family and loved ones.”

She wrote that through the masks, “I would like to express our love and solidarity with our more vulnerable brothers and sisters during this challenging time. Your health and wellbeing is on our minds as we wish you all a year of good health and many blessings.”

Sultan-Dadon and her team at the consulate in Atlanta packaged the masks, “expressing love and solidarity with brothers and sister of the diaspora,” according to a press release.

Each mask was packaged with a letter written and signed by Sultan-Dadon.

In addition to her hand-delivered packages, masks were shipped to senior living facilities in Savannah, Ga.; Charleston, S.C.; Greensboro, N.C; Memphis, Tenn.; and St. Louis, Mo.
