JCRC to Host Community Council Sept. 2

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Atlanta (JCRC) will launch its 2026-27 Community Council series at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2, at The Temple.

The event will focus on the upcoming elections in Georgia and feature:
• A representative from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office
• Andrew Lewis, JCRC board member and co-founder of the First Five Freedoms Initiative
• Tameka Bell, from Ebenezer Baptist Church and one of its social justice programs, Faith Rooted ATL
• Meir Lakein, co-executive director of national Jewish social justice organization JOIN for Justice

Together, the speakers will address efforts to ensure that Georgia’s elections are free, fair, secure and accessible to all eligible voters, and will explore how Jewish and interfaith communities can support trust in the electoral process.

The program is free and open to the entire community. Light refreshments will be served.

Building on the effectiveness of JCRC’s 2025-26 focus on hunger and nutrition programs, this year’s quarterly Community Councils will emphasize the Jewish community’s need and ability to engage in civil discourse in politics and other issues that can divide us.

JCRC of Atlanta serves as a common table for the Atlanta Jewish community, convening individuals and organizations to discuss critical public policy issues and advocate for solutions grounded in Jewish values.
