Since the morning of April 30, massive wildfires have been raging across central Israel — near Jerusalem, Modi’in, Beit Shemesh, and surrounding areas — threatening lives, homes, and natural landscapes.

Over nearly 5,000 acres of forests, nature reserves, and farmlands have already been destroyed. More than 10 communities have been evacuated. KKL-JNF’s Ayalon Park has been almost completely devastated, and other forests in the region face the same threat as the fires continue to spread.

Currently, more than 155 firefighting teams, including KKL-JNF crews, are still battling the flames — risking their lives in extreme heat and hazardous conditions to protect people, land, and wildlife. KKL-JNF firefighters are working in full coordination with Israel’s Fire and Rescue Services, police, and the IDF. Yet, the fires are still not under control, and Israel has officially requested international assistance.

To combat increasing and devastating wildfires, KKL-JNF continues to invest in specialized vehicles, advanced technology, expert training and life-saving equipment. These resources are critical for fast, coordinated, and effective firefighting in the face of intensifying threats from both nature and war.

This past year alone, more than 57,000 acres of forests and open landscapes in northern Israel were devastated by fires caused by assaults from Lebanon.

The damage is extensive, and officials don’t yet know the full extent of the destruction or how long it will take to extinguish the fires. But the fires need to be contained now to prevent further devastation. Officials know it will take decades to rehabilitate and restore Israel’s precious forests and ecosystems.

Community donations will provide KKL-JNF’s brave teams with the life-saving equipment and resources they need to continue fighting the fires and help restore the land that has been destroyed. Donations directly fund critical firefighting resources, including state-of-the-art fire trucks, protective gear, and cutting-edge technology. From drones for fire detection to advanced monitoring systems, these tools empower teams to identify and extinguish fires faster, minimize damage, and stay safer on the front lines.

Continuous training is key to preparedness. Your generosity helps ensure the teams remain at the top of their game, equipped to face future challenges and protect Israel’s forests effectively.

The flames have passed, but the damage remains. KKL-JNF is leading vital restoration efforts to replant trees, rehabilitate habitats, and breathe new life into scorched landscapes. Any support helps heal these natural treasures and ensure they thrive once again.
