Marcus, Blank Top Jewish Atlanta's Billionaires

Forbes magazine published its annual list of the world’s billionaires this week, and among the 2,208 members of the three-comma club collected by the magazine are some familiar faces in Jewish Atlanta:

Home Depot and Georgia Aquarium founder Bernie Marcus at No. 382 with an estimated net worth of $5.1 billion as of Tuesday, March 6.
Home Depot founder and Atlanta Falcons/United owner Arthur Blank at No. 527 with an estimated net worth of $4.1 billion.
Spanx founder and Atlanta Hawks minority owner Sara Blakely, squeaking onto the list at No. 2,124 with an even $1 billion, making her America’s youngest self-made female billionaire.
GreenSky founder and CEO David Zalik at No. 965 with $2.5 billion.
Mohawk Industries CEO and Chairman Jeff Lorberbaum (he’s from Calhoun, even if he lives in Chattanooga now) at No. 965 with $2.5 billion.

Also of local Jewish interest on the list are Anita Zucker of Charleston, who was honored by Conexx with the Tom Glaser Leadership Award at its annual awards gala in 2016, at No. 629 ($3.6 billion); Lynn Schusterman, founder and co-chair of the Schusterman Family Foundation, which has a large presence in Atlanta and benefits us all, at No. 729 ($3.2 billion); Tony Ressler, the Los Angeles-based primary owner of the Atlanta Hawks, at No. 1,215 ($2 billion).

At the top of the list is someone we’re hoping will be making a big investment in Atlanta soon, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, at a cool $112 billion. And the president of the United States comes in at No. 766 with $3.1 billion.

Twenty people listed as Israelis are on the list.
