See Oscar Nominee at Jewish Film Fest

The Oscar nominations were announced this morning, Jan. 24, and while you won’t see any of the candidates for best picture at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (opening tonight), one nominee is part of the 75-movie lineup.

Joe’s Violin“is nominated for best documentary short. The story of 91-year-old Holocaust survivor Joseph Feingold’s donation of his beloved violin to a Bronx public school is against “Extremis,” “4.1 Miles,” “Watani: My Homeland” and “The White Helmets” for the Academy Award.

The a 24-minute documentary is part of the festival’s second program of short films and can be seen this Sunday, Jan. 29, at 11:25 a.m. at Regal Perimeter Pointe in Sandy Springs or Saturday, Feb. 4, at 1:25 p.m. at Lefont Sandy Springs. Tickets are available for both shows.

The Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26.
