Michael Morris Buys Atlanta Jewish Times
Next Issue Scheduled for January 16 Michael Morris
Longtime Atlanta resident Michael Morris has purchased the Atlanta Jewish Times from Cliff Weiss, who had published the paper since 2012.
The last issue of the Atlanta Jewish Times under Weiss was published December 12. The first issue under Morris as owner and publisher will come out January 16 and will contain more detailed information on the direction he will take this 90-year-old community newspaper.
The Jewish Times will resume weekly publication with paid home delivery and free distribution at more than 400 locations around Atlanta. The newspaper also posts frequent updates online.
“The sharing of news, information and ideas is an integral piece of Jewish life, and we are prepared to take the necessary steps to fulfill this obligation,” Morris said. “The mission of the Atlanta Jewish Times is to provide timely information, an exchange of ideas and a forum for debate to a geographically dispersed greater Atlanta Jewish community.”
To help fulfill this mission, Morris has hired Michael Jacobs as editor. Jacobs led the paper’s editorial operations from 2005 to 2008.
Morris was recently the interim director of the Friends of the IDF for the Southeast Region. He is also one of the founders of travelgirl magazine where he was involved in strategic direction, management, circulation and advertising sales. In his early career, he founded and operated GMA Partners and was the assistant to the controller of Wolf Camera.
