The Temple has been awarded an Ignition Grant from A More Perfect Union, making it one of only 50 Jewish organizations nationwide, and the only in Georgia, selected to lead nonpartisan work protecting the 2026 midterm election.

The initiative also includes building relationships with election officials and engaging poll chaplains. This work is already underway and will continue through election day, Nov. 3. Upon its conclusion, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) will convert this project into a short playbook that other Jewish institutions can run for future election cycles.

Few places in the country have been under more pressure over how they run elections than Metro Atlanta. Fulton County has been at the center of disputes over the 2020 election for more than five years. In January, federal agents seized about 700 boxes of 2020 election materials from the county’s election hub. This spring, the county went to court to block a federal subpoena seeking contact information for nearly 3,000 people who worked or volunteered in that election. Election Day is Nov. 3, and any runoff would be held Dec. 1. Over those weeks, voters and election workers alike will benefit from steady, trusted voices in the community.

Through Ignition Grants, A More Perfect Union turns national pro-democracy investment into local action, putting resources directly into the hands of the community organizations doing the work. Since launching in 2023, the Ignition Grant program has funded 239 grants totaling more than $360,000. An initiative of A More Perfect Union’s Jewish Partnership for Democracy, the program identifies the highest-impact democracy work a Jewish institution can take on, builds the tools to make it achievable, and funds partner organizations to run it in their own communities. All funded projects are strictly nonpartisan.
