Marsha Ann Sussman, nee Berliner, passed away on Feb. 9. She was 80 years old.
Marsha was born in West Chester, Pa. and grew up there and in Harrisburg. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leonard Sussman, her daughters Brenda (Lee) Footer and Michele (Jack) Walsh, her siblings, Steve Berliner and Cherie Berliner, and her granddaughters, Naomi Footer, Stella Walsh and Adaline Walsh.
Marsha was a woman of many talents, starting her career as a medical assistant before becoming an early childhood educator at the Dallas and Atlanta Jewish Community Centers.
Marsha was a lifelong Girl Scout, leading troops for both her daughters and granddaughters, as well as managing many cookie campaigns and becoming a trainer of other leaders. She was also a CPR and First Aid instructor. She had a passion for Jewish education as both a student and teacher.
Marsha also loved to knit. She was a regular at her local yarn shop, started a knitting club at her senior residence and gifted everyone she met with hats, scarves, sweaters and socks at every chance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marsha’s memory to Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta or Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, Program Department-Preschools. A graveside funeral was held on Feb. 11 at North Atlanta Memorial Park. Arrangements by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.
