Steve Gruenhut, 83, passed away on Oct. 3, 2026, in Boca Raton, Fla.
Steve Gruenhut, 83, passed away on Oct. 3, 2026, in Boca Raton, Fla. He was born in 1943 in New York City to Rose and Siegfried Wolf. At age 7, Steve and his mother moved to Kane, Penn. with her new husband, Albert Gruenhut, and from there they moved to Statesville, N.C. Steve attended the University of North Carolina and became a lifetime fan of “all things Carolina.”
In 1966, he moved to Atlanta with his former wife, Elaine, where they raised their two children. Steve’s interests included playing basketball and golf. He served as the commissioner of the JCC men’s basketball league for 13 years and was a member of The Standard Club for more than 30 years, playing golf as often as he could. Steve worked as an executive for Brighton Best Socket Screw Manufacturing for over 45 years. He and his wife, Carol, spent the last 30 years living between Atlanta and the Fountains Country Club in Palm Beach County, Fla. Steve is survived by his son, Mike (Kathy) and their children, Elliott and Audrey, and his son, Jeff (Lauren) and their children, Ava and Zac. He is also survived by Carol’s daughter, Laurie, Carol’s daughter-in-law, Carrie Ann, and grandson, Cole. He was predeceased by Carol’s son, Erik.
Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Oct 7, 2026. Funeral arrangements will be handled by HM Patterson and Son.
Shiva will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2026, at the home of Jeff and Lauren Gruenhut, 445 Glenmanor Court, Sandy Springs, Ga. 30328 (attendees are requested to please park in the Aberdeen Forest neighborhood located one block south of Glenmanor Court off Glenridge Drive).
