Long security lines await fans at the Atlanta Braves’ first game inside their new stadium on March 31.
The first baseball game at SunTrust Park, an exhibition game providing a soft opening for the Cobb County stadium, saw the Atlanta Braves defeat the New York Yankees 8-5 to end spring training March 31. It was a chance for the Braves staff to test out everything from security and concessions inside the park to parking and traffic outside it.
The Braves officially open the ballpark in the Cumberland Community Improvement District at 7:35 p.m. Friday, April 14, against the San Diego Padres.
