Reconstructionists Bring South-Side Diversity

A new Reconstructionist community is forming south of Atlanta.

A Reconstructionist community is forming south of Atlanta, joining Reform Congregation B’nai Israel and Chabad of Peachtree City as south-side worship options.

Havurah Hachnasat Orchim, whose name means hospitality fellowship, aims to enhance spirituality through learning and fellowship, according to an announcement sent by organizer Don Thomas.

“Our vision is to create a community where ancient tradition is blended with innovation, where study and deeds of lovingkindness are the cornerstones of a thriving, joyous and enthusiastic experience,” Thomas wrote.

The havurah is inclusive, egalitarian, interfaith, LGBT-friendly, nonbiased and welcoming: The tent is open on all four sides.
