Amy Schumer Pens New Movie

Comedian Amy Schumer’s script for her film entitled, “Trainwreck,” has been picked up by Universal Pictures and will star Schumer in her Hollywood debut alongside Bill Hader. “Trainwreck” was developed with Judd Apatow, who is also set to direct.

Plot details have yet to be revealed, although the movie has been given a release date of July 24, 2015. “Trainwreck” also features SNL alum Colin Quinn.

In the meantime, Schumer’s Comedy Central show, “Inside Amy Schumer” has been scheduled to return for a second season next month. Variety named Schumer their “2014 Breakthrough Comedy Winner” thanks, in part, to the series.

Born to Gordon Schumer and Sandra Jones, Amy Schumer grew up on Long Island, N.Y. with one younger sister. She and her sister were raised in a Jewish household, according to their father’s religion.

Throughout her career, Schumer has appears on such shows as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “30 Rock,” and “Girls.”

Sarah Silverman Scores First Starring Role

Fellow female comedian, Sarah Silverman has been cast in her first leading role in a feature film. She will star in, “I Smile Back,” an adaptation of the novel by writer Amy Koppelman.

The author, Koppelman, helped create the script and reportedly wrote the film role with Silverman in mind. Silverman will play Laney Brooks, a troubled New Jersey housewife alongside Thomas Sadoski of “The Newsroom” fame.

Silverman has been lending her time to a number of other projects, including a new ad campaign with Orbit gum, as well as philanthropic work.

The comedian recently supported the Keshet Cabaret, a national organization for the inclusion of LGBT Jews. The highest bidder can win a voicemail recording by Silverman for the Keshet Cabaret charity auction held in Boston.

She will also appear with her sister, Rabbi Susan Silverman, for the fifth annual “Women in the World: Stories + Solutions” summit on April 4.

Silverman last appeared on the big screen as the voice of Vanellope in 2012’s animated feature, “Wreck-It Ralph.”
