People Aim to Raise Funds to Fight Alzheimer’s

The Bridge Club of Atlanta will host a fundraiser to honor people with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

On June 21, 2018, people around the world, including 182 teams in Georgia will participate in The Longest Day, a day dedicated to all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Whether it’s choosing a favorite activity, hosting an event or joining a team, participants will ignite a global conversation about Alzheimer’s disease, the brain and other dementias as part of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month in June.

Held annually on the summer solstice, The Longest Day symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Participants will do what they love – biking, hiking, playing bridge, swimming, knitting and more– to honor a caregiver, someone living with Alzheimer’s, or someone lost to this devastating disease.

Together, participants will raise funds and awareness to advance Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research programs.

Since the inception of the Longest Day in 2012, the Bridge Club of Atlanta has raised more than $270,000 for care, support and research programs through the Alzheimer’s Association.  This year they are expected to raise $75,000.

“We are truly grateful for the Bridge Club of Atlanta who go above and beyond to raise much needed funds for people dealing with Alzheimer’s”, says Linda Davidson, Executive Director,  Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter. “These funds will help us support our Georgia programs and services as well as research to one day put an end to Alzheimer’s disease”, added Davidson.
