AJFF: 55 features, 20 shorts, 23 days

The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is screening 55 features and 20 short films from Tuesday, Jan. 24, to Wednesday, Feb. 15.
From “Alone in Berlin” on opening night at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre to “The Women’s Balcony” on closing night at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Symphony Hall, the movies represent the work of filmmakers in 24 countries.
“The Atlanta Jewish Film festival will bring cinematic stories that we will be thinking about and talking about for a long time,” festival Executive Director Kenny Blank said.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 18, at ajff.org.
The 17th annual festival includes 202 individual screenings, the most ever, and includes a juried competition for the first time.
“Film anthropology — it means using the power of films to restore human connectivity and bring further understanding to our world,” Blank said during a party at which the lineup was revealed to festival sponsors and patrons Jan. 5 at the Atlanta History Center.
“The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival’s success and accomplishments are because of our staff’s interactions and what they do,” said Steve Labovitz, the president of the festival board. “The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is much more than films; it’s about fostering new dialogues within the community for stronger communication.”
