Meet Members of the JNF-Atlanta 2016 Israel Ride Team

Throughout the 2016 Israel Ride Nov. 8-14, Morris Maslia will be providing posts of insights and photos of the exciting and transformative event.

Pam Kelly Cohen
Pam Kelly Cohen: is a practicing CPA and the mother of two grown boys.  As a native of Savannah, she has a love of the ocean and spending time outdoors.  Cycling has become a passion, and she is looking forward to the physical challenge of the Israel Ride as well as her first trip to Israel.

Amy I. Kahn
Amy I. Kahn: fell in love with cycling when she was 13 and can’t think of a better way to see Israel the on her bike. Originally from Detroit, she is a professional photographer that now calls Atlanta home. She looks forward to photographing this wonderful country.

Alan Lubel
Alan Lubel: is a trial attorney practicing with the firm of Berman Fink Van Horn in Atlanta. An erstwhile triathlete, this is his second Israel Ride. He is motivated by the mission of the Arava Institute to use cross-border environmental issues to promote regional cooperation and proud to support the outstanding students at the Institute. Alan appreciates everyone who has contributed to support his participation in the Ride and is especially grateful for the encouragement from his wife Lisa Rinzler-Lubel and his children, Nicole and Josh.

Morris Maslia
Morris L. Maslia (Team Captain): lived in Zahala, Tel-Aviv during 1958–62 when his parents made Aliya. He has visited Israel on many occasions and has been involved as a volunteer and board member of JNF in Atlanta. Morris was the JNF-Atlanta Team Captain for the 2014 Israel Ride. He began cycling as a serious enthusiast to celebrate his 60th birthday during 2014. Professionally, he is a water resources and environmental engineer with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Morris is married to Amy Lipp Maslia and has three sons, Adam, Aaron, and Zachary.

 

Richard Mitchell
Richard Mitchell: is a personal injury trial lawyer in Atlanta. He loves to ride locally with the Bad Boyz and Honey Badger biking groups and has ridden all over the world – New Zealand, Bali, Chile, Argentina and several European countries. He is very excited to ride in Israel for the first time and to visit his son and daughter in law (who is studying to be a rabbi) in Jerusalem.

 

Ann Weiner Gilbert Weiner

Ann and Gilbert Weiner: are avid cyclists from Scottsdale, AZ, They are so excited to be able to participate in the 2016 Israel Ride, cycling through the most amazing country in the world. They are also cousins to Morris Maslia.

This year the Israel Ride started a new program called “Crew Connections“, which is a more in-depth way for participants and crew to get to know each other. The Israel Ride crew member for the JNF-Atlanta team is Eliana Farber. She currently lives in Be’er Sheba where she is a student at Ben Gurion University, studying geography and environmental development and conflict management. Eliana is an alumnus of the Arava Institute and worked as a crew member for the 2015 Israel Ride. Her favorite food is falafel and humus, but tahini tops her list of favorite Middle Eastern foods. She has just returned from her honeymoon in Nepal.
