The Breman Announces 2026 Levison Family Music Series
The lineup features the New Orleans Klezmer All Stars, Joe Alterman Trio, and Flying Carpet Theatre Company.

The Breman is excited to announce its three-concert Levison Family Music Series for 2026. The lineup features Klezmer: Old, New and NOW! with the New Orleans Klezmer All Stars on Sunday March 22; Raise the Roof: The Fiddler Jazz Sessions with the Joe Alterman Trio on Sunday, April 19; and Flying Carpet Theatre Company debuting the concert-cabaret show Bacharach at The Breman on Sunday, June 7.
“Our mission is to share the richness of Jewish culture with diverse Atlanta audiences,” The Breman Executive Director Leslie Gordon said, “but at this year’s Levison Series, expect a great amount of joy at a time when it’s especially needed.”
A closer look at the trio of concerts:
Sunday, March 22, Klezmer: Old, New and NOW! with the New Orleans Klezmer All Stars: The All Stars stir up a roux of traditional klezmer with the funk, R&B and Dixieland sounds of their namesake city. While they may push the boundaries of this folk music style, the horns, guitar, bass, drums and accordion players never sacrifice the most exciting features of Crescent City social music: driving rhythms, clear melodies and passionate playing.
Celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2026, the All Stars specialize in what they refer to as “a sort of Yiddish Impressionism – keeping audiences dancing but cutting to the depths of their cultural imaginations.” The band’s latest album is “Tipish” (2024), recorded at New Orleans’ Happyland Theater.
Sunday, April 19, Raise the Roof: The Fiddler Jazz Sessions with the Joe Alterman Trio: Inspired by splendid versions of “Fiddler on the Roof” tunes by artists including Cannonball Adderley, Louis Armstrong, and Marlena Shaw, Breman favorite Joe Alterman raises the roof of this beloved musical. Alterman will play every song from the soundtrack rearranged and reimagined for his piano trio like this favorite number: “To Life!”
“Fiddler on the Roof” premiered on Broadway in September 1964 and went on to play a record-setting 3,242 performances, receiving a special Tony Award in 1972 for becoming (what was then) the longest-running musical in Broadway history. The Alliance Theatre and The Atlanta Opera co-presented a revival production in 2025 that was hailed as one of the highlights of the Atlanta theater year. Enhancing the theatergoing experience, The Breman presented the well-received exhibition “Fiddler on the Roof: Costumes & Contrasts, An Exploration of Tradition & Identity.”
Sunday, June 7, Atlanta’s Flying Carpet Theatre Company premieres Bacharach at The Breman: In this hybrid of concert and cabaret, performers will tell the fascinating life story of composer, songwriter and pianist Burt Bachrach. They will perform classics such as “Walk on By,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” and “Alfie.”
Bacharach (1928-2023) revolutionized American popular music with his sophisticated melodies, unexpected chord progressions and complex rhythms that both embraced, built upon and then defied the conventions of Broadway, pop and Tin Pan Alley. Born into a Jewish family in Kansas City, Mo., Bacharach studied classical music before finding his voice in popular song. He created some of the most memorable songs of the 1960s and 70s, blending jazz harmonies, Brazilian bossa nova rhythms and classical influences into a sound that was unmistakably Bacharach-ian.
With its accomplished Atlanta company of ace musicians and performers, Flying Carpet will tell Bacharach’s story – spanning his early work as Marlene Dietrich’s accompanist to his composing that garnered six Grammy Awards and three Academy Awards – and deliver his memorable hits.
Each event in the Levison Family Music Series will be enhanced by a pre-performance reception (included in the ticket price), inviting audience members to enjoy a beverage and a bite and time for conversation. Each reception starts at 4 p.m., with concerts starting at 5 p.m.
General admission tickets: $50 per show for Breman members and $60 per show for non-members. The price includes a pre-show reception. $100 season tickets are available to members.
