The Works Adds Fox Bros. to Exciting Lineup
Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q is the latest to sign on to open a space in The Works, one of Selig's biggest new ventures.
Selig Enterprises’ exciting development, The Works , has already added a litany of big names to its roster, including one of the fastest-growing breweries, Scofflaw Brewing, and a food hall curated by Andrew Zimmern of “Bizarre Foods” fame.
Mindy Selig, vice president of retail leasing for Selig Enterprises, explained that the vision for The Works was that of her late brother Scott.
“He knew about 10 years ago that this area of town was going to be something special,” she said. “It’s centrally located and accessible to all of the great neighborhoods. … What he envisioned was really this connected community that offers experiences that will bring people back again and again. … It is my greatest honor to be able to do this project because this really is my brother’s legacy.”
Located in West Midtown, the project spans over 80 acres, seeking to cater to many needs, from retail and dining to industry and beyond. While it is being completed in phases, the first stage is expected to be finished in early 2020.

“We’ve been looking to open a second location for about four or five years now,” Jonathan Fox said. “We sat down with them and walked away feeling like we had a really good opportunity with Selig.”
Those conversations took place in the early spring, and things have been moving quickly since then. In contrast with the current DeKalb Avenue restaurant, The Works will feature a spacious 10,000-square-foot, 300-plus seating area, which Jonathan and brother Justin are both excited and nervous about.
“The nice thing about being in a small space is that it really feels like you have a lot of people there when its full,” Jonathan said. “But we get hit up for private dining a lot or renting out space, and it’s just not something we’re able to do currently, so having the extra space for a dining room or bulk seating gives us a lot of options.”
While there will be no shortage of restaurants and attractions at The Works, that excites Justin.
“Hearing from Selig about their plans, whether it’s the food hall or the shopping or the parks, it really seems like something that can attract a lot of people,” he said. “You can really spend a whole day there, starting the day shopping, and then maybe hang out at the brewery for a little bit and then you can eat over at Fox Bros. or in the food hall.”
As for why Fox Bros appealed to Selig, the answer is simple.
“We knew from the first meeting that it was the right fit,” Mindy Selig said. “After four years of searching, I feel very honored that they chose us for their second home, and I personally think that they’re the best at what they do, and they’re just great people too.”
